Painting Process: Step 6 - Finishing
Leonardo da Vinci said "Art is never finished, only abandoned."
In this final stage the main objectives were to check overall tone, and add very fine details and highlights. Potentially this stage of a painting could go on for an eternity. The trap is getting bogged down on details which no longer add any value to the overall image. The details omitted and the areas left unfinished add character to a painting.
